The Workshop on High-Performance Image Reconstruction 2007 (HPIR 07) has been created in response to
the recent dramatic growth in computing performance brought about by the emergence of a variety of high-performance commodity computing
platforms. Within oral and poster sessions the HPIR 07 will present state-of-the-art research in this field, showcasing multi-core CPUs,
GPUs, the Cell processor, FPGAs, ASICs, PC clusters, and other emerging architectures. These platforms enable medical imaging
applications deemed challenging in the past, such as real-time CT reconstruction and also iterative CT, within a variety of algorithmic
and imaging scenarios. The workshop will also include an expert panel, composed of researchers in academia as well as industry, tasked
to define the present and future needs and research agenda for high performance medical image reconstruction.
The International Meeting on Fully
Three-Dimensional Image Reconstruction
in Radiology and Nuclear Medicine is the ninth in a successful series of well-known biennial meetings
dedicated to problems related to tomography in radiology and nuclear medicine. It gives the chance to present, discuss and understand the latest techniques of
image reconstruction in the oral and poster sessions as well as during the various informal parts of the program.
